Botox & Dysport

Botulinum toxin, under the brand names Botox or Dysport may be injected under the skin that relax the underlying facial muscle for a period of approximately 3-4 months.

Once the muscle is relaxed it can no longer crease the overlying skin, thus reducing wrinkles.

Neuromodulators are commonly used to treat;

  • forehead lines,

  • furrow lines in between the eyebrows,

  • “crow’s feet” at the lateral eyes,

  • “gummy smile” (undesired show of the gums when smiling),

  • “lip flip” which may increase pink show of the upper lip.

Botox and Dysport may also be used :

  • in the masseter muscles - the jaw muscles involved in clenching/grinding of the teeth for the purpose of reducing the strength of teeth grinding or for aesthetic jaw slimming effect.

  • to treat the underarms for excessive sweating, known as hyperhidrosis.
